Colton Underwood is a catch. He’s handsome and sweet, so it’s no surprise there are currently 12 women vying for his final rose — including front-runner Cassie Randolph — on the 23rd season of
The Bachelor. What is surprising? The former NFL player, 27, is afraid he’ll end up alone! “Just because I have the title of the Bachelor doesn’t mean I’m invincible to having my heart broken,” he tells Us. We talked about his inferiority complex — and all that smooching with Cassie!
Why are you worried you won’t find love?
CU Going through this has been a humbling experience. You can’t have an ego in relationships. That’s one thing I definitely learned.
You and Cassie have made out a lot during your one-on-ones, and you’ve said you’re “insanely attracted” to her. Is your connection more than just physical?
CU I think it was pretty obvious for the viewers… there was more than just making out the entire time, but that’s also part of the relationship. I’m excited for everyone to see how the dynamics of these relationships start changing in the late part of the show.
You’ve told Us that you’re in a happy place now, which is great. Can you say why?
CU I think it’s just because I continue to find myself and find what I really want out of life. I learned the one thing you can’t do is compare relationships. You have to treat every single one as its own, and you have to use past relationships as learning experiences to figure out: What did I like, what did I not, what was not ideal for me and how can I fix this? How can I be better, and how can I make our relationship better?
Do you feel like you know what you want out of life now?
I’m learning. But I’m a big believer in trying everything once to see what you like. I don’t know what I’m going to do with my career and stuff, but I’m having fun right now, and I’m enjoying the moment.
