THE WRITE STUFF After arriving at the St. James Theatre, Bennett’s first order of business is signing in at the stage door. “We have to be there 30 minutes before curtain,” the Mean Girls alum, 42, tells Us, “but I’m always an hour early because I like to be in the theater and get in the zone.”

MOVING PARTS Act 1 begins: “This hood is my fastest costume change — I have about eight seconds to go from this look to Mud Robin and walk on stage,” Bennett says. “There’s been a few close calls [and] I almost went on stage without my wig — that would’ve been bad!”

SOUND OF SILENCE Bennett — who plays Sir Robin in the Tony Award–winning musical — heads to the stage to warm up: “This is my quiet time before the show to make sure I remember all my lines and sick dance moves.” Next, he ventures to his dressing room to get notes from the assistant dance captain.

DRESSED FOR THE PART In the hair department, “I get my first wig put on,” the actor says. This look, featuring a small hat and little hair, is for Mud Robin, his character before he “becomes a knight,” he explains. Then, “my costumer, Courtney, gets me ready for Act 1.”

8:25 P.M.

BREAK POINT During intermission, Bennett heads back to his private area to snap a quick selfie as Sir Robin. “The only time I’m able to go to my dressing room is during intermission,” the Food Network star shares. Luckily, “it’s four floors upstairs, and my butt has never looked better!”

9:26 P.M.

ROUND OF APPLAUSE The show’s over! “There’s no bigger adrenaline rush than taking a bow on Broadway,” Bennett tells Us. “I imagined what it would be like for years, and now that I do it eight times a week, it’s even better than I imagined.”
