Non- politicians top polls; Carson, Trump tie
They have a combined zero years of experience in elective office, but Donald Trump and Ben Carson are way out in front in the critical early voting state of Iowa, according to a poll out Monday.
A Monmouth University poll of likely Iowa GOP caucusgoers found the billionaire real estate developer and retired pediatric neurosurgeon tied, each with 23% support. Coming in third, with 10%: Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett- Packard CEO, who also has never held public office.
Trump has led nationally among Republican voters for weeks, so perhaps most notable is the steady surge of Carson, who was also a close second to Trump in a Des Moines Register/ Bloomberg Politics Iowa poll released over the weekend.
