Matchups favor Thomas, Edelman
Wideouts should produce; Graham likely to struggle
STUDS
Several high- profile injuries have put fantasy owners in a bind. With two of the top five offenses on bye, lineup options this week might be even more limited.
WR Demaryius Thomas, Den
ver Broncos: QB Peyton Manning will face the daunting Kansas City Chiefs pass rush, but he’ll make do by feeding Thomas early and letting him take off after the catch. Even better, the Chiefs allow the most fantasy points per game to receivers.
WR Julian Edelman, New England Patriots: As if you needed more evidence to play Edelman, he has been targeted at least eight times in all but one game this year and the New York Giants secondary is a top- five fantasy matchup for wideouts.
RB Doug Martin, Tampa
Bay Buccaneers: Martin will take advantage of the Dallas Cowboys’ soft interior run defense, which will be even worse if linebacker Sean Lee is limited.
RB Giovani Bernard, Cin
cinnati Bengals: The Houston Texans have allowed running backs to catch at least six passes in each of the last three games. Bernard, who makes dazzling open- field plays after the catch, will join that group.
DUDS
TE Jimmy Graham, Seattle
Seahawks: Graham has at least seven catches in two of his last three games, but he’ll struggle to find room against the Arizona Cardinals, who’ve been one of the toughest matchups for tight ends. The Cardinals should control the line of scrimmage against an offensive line that has struggled to protect QB Russell Wilson.
WR Jeremy Maclin, Kansas
City Chiefs: The Broncos remain the second- toughest fantasy defense against wideouts, despite Sunday’s hiccup vs. the Indianapolis Colts. Maclin might still see plenty of targets, but Denver’s stifling cornerbacks should temper what he’ll do with them.
RB Jonathan Stewart, Car
olina Panthers: Despite accruing 20- plus carries in each of his last four games, Stewart has averaged under 4 yards per carry in three of them. Look for quarterback Cam Newton to rely more on his arm — and legs — than on handoffs to Stewart.
SLEEPERS
RB Shane Vereen, New York
Giants: A matchup against his former team fits Vereen’s skill set. The Patriots haven’t allowed a 100- yard rusher since Week 1, but they’ve yielded at least four receptions to running backs in their last six games.
WR Kamar Aiken, Balti
more Ravens: With at least six targets in five of his last six outings, Aiken will step in as the Ravens’ No. 1 wideout after Steve Smith Sr.’ s season- ending injury.
TE Eric Ebron, Detroit Li
ons: Expect the Green Bay Packers to limit WR Calvin Johnson’s potential, which probably will leave Ebron in many 1- on- 1 situations, including from the slot. Coming off the bye, Matthew Stafford should execute this new offense at a somewhat crisper pace and feature his open- secret weapon.
