The Academy Award- winning actress has signed on to play the female lead in Adam Sandler’s next Netflix film, ‘ Sandy Wexler.’ Hudson will star in the romantic comedy, which is set in the 1990s, as Courtney Clarke, a singer discovered by a talent agent played by Sandler. ‘ Sandy Wexler’ begins shooting in Los Angeles on Aug. 2. It will stream on Netflix next year.

The five- time Latin Grammy and two- time Grammy winner will be honored as the 2016 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year. Anthony will be celebrated at a gala and tribute concert Nov. 16 in Las Vegas. Past recipients include Shakira, Miguel Bosé, Roberto Carlos, Plácido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernández and Carlos Santana.
