BENGALS PILE UP FANTASY POINTS

- Steve Gardner

Fantasy owners couldn’t go wrong starting just about any member of the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 7.

The Bengals rolled up 559 yards of total offense Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, with quarterback Andy Dalton throwing for 308, running back Jeremy Hill racking up 168 and a touchdown and wide receiver A. J. Green totaling 169 and a score.

NOT FULL STRENGTH

Just because a player is active on a particular week doesn’t mean he’s playing at 100%. Fantasy owners who started running backs LeSean McCoy of the Buffalo Bills and Jamaal Charles of the Kansas City Chiefs learned that the hard way in Week 7.

McCoy was questionable because of a hamstring injury and was a game- time decision. He started and led all Buffalo backs in snaps but gained just 11 yards on eight carries, and he left early after apparently reinjuring his hamstring.

Charles had only one carry as Spencer Ware dominated the workload, rushing 17 times for 77 yards and catching a 46- yard touchdown pass.

Fantasy owners should wait until McCoy and Charles can put together several full practices in a row before putting them in the starting lineup.

BROAD SHOULDERS AWARD

Our weekly honor for the player who single- handedly carried his fantasy owners to victory goes to San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon.

In a shootout against the Atlanta Falcons, Gordon rushed for two touchdowns and scored a third one on a 5- yard pass from Philip Rivers to finish as the day’s highest- scoring fantasy player.
