FTC SUES MARKETERS OF DIETARY SUPPLEMENT
The marketers of nationally advertised dietary supplement Prevagen have been sued by the Federal Trade Commission and New York State attorney general’s office for allegedly making false claims the product improves memory and is “clinically shown” to work. Ads for Prevagen, which sells for $ 24 to $ 68 for bottles of 30 pills, feature charts that show dramatic memory improvement for users. But a federal court complaint filed Monday charges marketers relied on a study that failed to show it works better than a placebo.
