NORTH KOREA FIRES UNIDENTIFIED MISSILE

-

A week after it launched a medium- range missile capable of reaching U. S. bases nearby, North Korea fired an “unidentified projectile” early Monday morning, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.

The statement did not indicate where the projectile landed.

A spokesman for the U. S. National Security Council told CNN that President Trump had been briefed on the launch.

South Korean President Moon Jae- in was also briefed and ordered a national security council meeting for 7: 30 a. m. Monday local time, the South Korean statement said.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un last week ordered mass production of a medium- range ballistic missile that is capable of reaching several U. S. bases in the region.
