HAIR CARE TIPS FOR SUMMER:

-

Jen’s hair color guru also provides tips for maintaining that fresh-from- thesalon color throughout the season.

1. Go undercover

Canalé says it’s imperative to cover color- treated hair “as much as possible.” He suggests wearing conditioner while in the sun or sporting a hat to block the rays.

2. Just braid it

He believes wearing braids and similar styles will help ward off the sun.“You have to keep it more condensed,” the salon owner says. “That’ll keep the sun from getting into the hair.”

3. Defend yourself against chlorine

“The way to combat chlorine is by not getting it in your hair,” Canalé explains. “So. if you’re going to go into a pool that’s full of chlorine, try and wet your hair first. ( Or) you can find a conditioner to put in your hair. It’s sort of like a sponge that’s already wet. It doesn’t absorb soapy water.”

As a bonus, Canalé advises what hair essentials to pack for upcoming summer vacays.

“Great shampoo,” he offers. “Try not to get a detergent- y shampoo. You want to use a good conditioner.”

Canalé had those with color- treated hair in mind when he crafted his new line.

That includes a shampoo, conditioner, vitamin- thickening foam and dry shampoo, which he warns is “not there to really give you a new lifestyle.”
