Repealing the 2nd Amendment is possible

USA TODAY OPINION Former Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens called for the repeal of the Second Amendment, the constitutional right used to defend gun ownership.

Justice Stevens makes many good points, but repeal is not necessary. We just need a Supreme Court that understands that the Second Amendment should only apply to state militias.

Repealing the Second Amendment won’t happen in this generation, which shows just how much work the left has to do to indoctrinate students in thinking that taking all guns from law-abiding American citizens is the way to go.

Well, you have to admire one thing, at least Stevens is talking about a constitutionally appropriate solution, if it were completed successfully. Other than that, what a moron!

Really, look at what he’s saying, let’s change a constitutional right and disarm almost a third of the households in the nation because a few thousand people committed murder with a gun. In the end, it is like using a nuclear weapon to destroy an anthill in the desert, useless.

I’m not sure a total repeal is necessary. It is the assault weapons that need to be banned. For other weapons, age should be reconsidered. If the writers of the Second Amendment knew the type of firepower we would have years in the future, they would have made different decisions. Of course people will always find ways to kill others if they want to, but why make it so easy for them with these high-powered weapons? If anyone thinks that owning an AR-15 will stop a government from running amok, they are sadly mistaken. Lisa Parker
