‘ Marriage’ wows

Netflix’s divorce drama leads Golden Globes field; see who was nominated, who was snubbed.

“Marriage Story” made a big move toward Oscar glory Monday morning, leading the Golden Globe Awards field with six nomination­s.

Director Noah Baumbach’s tearjerkin­g Netflix divorce film is up for best drama as well as dramatic actor and actress at the 77th annual Golden Globes. The film will compete for the top prize alongside gangster epic “The Irishman” ( which picked up five nomination­s), World War I thriller “1917,” papal dramedy “The Two Popes” and psychologi­cal villain tale “Joker.”

Up for best comedy/ musical are Quentin Tarantino’s 1960s fantasy “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood ( which snagged five Globes nods), Taika Waititi’s World War II satire “Jojo Rabbit,” murder mystery “Knives Out,” Elton John biopic “Rocketman” and the Eddie Murphy period comedy “Dolemite Is My Name.”

“Joker” star Joaquin Phoenix heads up the dramatic actor category, which includes Adam Driver (“Marriage Story”), Antonio Banderas (“Pain and Glory”), Jonathan Pryce (” The Two Popes”) and Christian Bale (“Ford v Ferrari”). The comedy actor contingent includes Murphy, Leonardo DiCaprio (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”), Taron Egerton (” Rocketman”), Daniel Craig (“Knives Out”) and Roman Griffin Davis (“Jojo Rabbit”).

Renee Zellweger, who plays Judy Garland in the biopic “Judy,” leads the crop of drama actresses along with Scarlett Johansson (“Marriage Story”), Saoirse Ronan (“Little Women”), Charlize Theron (“Bombshell”) and Cynthia Erivo (“Harriet”).

“The Farewell” star Awkwafina is nominated for comedy actress with Beanie Feldstein (“Booksmart”), Ana de Armas (“Knives Out”), Emma Thompson (“Late Night”) and Cate Blanchett (“Where Did You Go, Bernadette”).

Jennifer Lopez (“Hustlers”) and Laura Dern (“Marriage Story”) will tussle for supporting actress against Margot Robbie (“Bombshell”), Annette Bening (“The Report”) and Kathy Bates (“Richard Jewell”).

“Irishman” co- stars Joe Pesci and Al Pacino vie for best supporting actor against Brad Pitt (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”), Tom Hanks (“A Beautiful Day in the Neighborho­od”) and Anthony Hopkins (“The Two Popes”).

In the TV categories, “Chernobyl,” “The Crown” and “Unbelievab­le” each scored four nomination­s. “The Kominsky Method” is going for its second consecutiv­e win for best comedy against “Barry,” “Fleabag,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “The Politician,” and the field for best TV drama includes “The Crown,” “Big Little Lies,” “Succession,” “Killing Eve” and “The Morning Show.”

The awards will air live Jan. 5 ( NBC, 8 p. m. EST/ 5 PST), hosted by Ricky Gervais.
