POSITIVE COVID- 19 TESTS
Novak Djokovic and his wife, Jelena, have tested positive for COVID- 19, the star men’s tennis player announced Tuesday. Djokovic organized a tournament dubbed the “Adria Tour” that played in Zadar, Croatia, over the weekend. No. 19 Grigor Dimitrov announced Sunday he tested positive, one day after he played in the tournament. The final of the series was scrapped after the news of Dimtirov’s positive test broke, but Djokovic left Croatia without being tested.
Dating to April, the University of Florida has had 11 athletes test positive for COVID- 19, the school confirmed Tuesday. Because of student privacy rules, the school will not reveal names of the athletes and the sports they play. Florida has tested athletes on the football, volleyball and soccer teams.
Two Steelers tested positive for COVID- 19, coach Mike Tomlin said on a conference call Tuesday. He did hot name the players and said they have not been in Pittsburgh’s facility and that the positives date “all the way back to the spring of this thing.”
Golfer Cameron Champ withdrew from the Travelers Championship after testing positive during pre- tournament screening Tuesday, according to a release from the PGA Tour. “I feel great physically and I was obviously surprised and disappointed to learn of the test result,” said Champ. “It’s important now to take the necessary steps and measures to protect others, including my loved ones.”
