Super 25 high school football preseason rankings revealed

See which powerhouse from Texas, California or Florida tops the USA TODAY rankings.

1. IMG Academy ( Bradenton, Fla.) – A roster already loaded with Division I talent adds Michigan commit J. J. McCarthy at quarterbac­k.

2. Mater Dei ( Santa Ana, Calif.) – The perennial national power has won the state title two of the past three years.

3. Duncanvill­e ( Texas) – After two title- game losses in a row, the Panthers look ready to clear the final hurdle.

4. St. John Bosco ( Bellflower, Calif.) – Last year’s mythical national champions, the Braves went 13- 0 playing one of the nation’s toughest schedules.

5. St. Thomas Aquinas ( Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) – The reigning Class 7A state champs, the Raiders are always a South Florida powerhouse.

6. St. Frances Academy ( Baltimore) – Winners of 34 of their last 35 games, the Panthers have a roster loaded with Power Five talent.

7. North Shore ( Houston) – The two- time 6A DI champ is primed to defend its title, led by All- USA quarterbac­k and Auburn commit Dematrius Davis.

8. Chandler ( Ariz.) – The Wolves have won four state titles and 26 games in a row.

9. St. Joseph’s Prep ( Philadelph­ia) – The Hawks have won two straight state titles and are led by sons of NFL stars with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

10. Grayson ( Loganville, Ga.) – The Rams finished last season 11- 2 and will be among the favorites in the state’s largest classification.

11. Austin Westlake ( Texas) – The defending 6A DII champs are loaded on both sides of the football.

12. Miami Central – The defending Class 6A state champs, the Rockets won a state title for the sixth time this decade.

13. St. John’s ( Washington, D. C.) – The Cadets lost five games last year– all to teams on this list. They’ve won three Washington Catholic Athletic

Conference regular- season titles in a row.

14. Lowndes ( Valdosta, Ga.) – The Vikings lost to Marietta in the 7A state title game.

15. Katy ( Texas) – The defense and running game are always key for the perennial powerhouse, which has won at least 10 games every year since 2004.

16. De Smet Jesuit ( St. Louis) – The Spartans finished last season undefeated and won their first state title since 2005.

17. Edgewater ( Orlando, Fla.) – The Eagles went 13- 2 last season and lost to St. Thomas Aquinas in the Class 7A state title game.

18. Centennial ( Corona, Calif.) – The Huskies are led by the nation’s topranked player, DE Korey Foreman.

19. Shadow Creek ( Pearland, Texas) – After one loss in the school’s first two years, the Sharks are moving into a higher classification.

20. Trinity ( Louisville, Ky.) – Fresh off their 26th state championsh­ip, the Shamrocks won their final eight games of 2019 by an average of 41 points.

21. Our Lady of Good Counsel ( Olney, Md.) – The Falcons won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference for the first time since 2012 and are 80- 5 over the past eight seasons.

22. Dutch Fork ( Irmo, S. C.) – The Silver Foxes have dominated South Carolina, winning four straight 5A titles, going 55- 1- 1 during that stretch.

23. Corner Canyon ( Draper, Utah) – Back- to- back state champions, the Chargers bring a 26- game winning streak into 2020.

24. Thompson ( Alabaster, Ala.) – The Warriors are the state’s No. 1 team and the reigning 7A state champions.

25. Center Grove ( Greenwood, Ind.) – Reached the Class 6A state title game last year, returns standout linemen Austin Booker and Caden Curry on defense and junior quarterbac­k Tayven Jackson and running back Carson Steele on offense.
