will miss the rest of the season after being scheduled to have thoracic outlet syndrome surgery. The condition is the same one that ended New York Mets starter Matt Harvey’s season. The injury-plagued Zimmer appeared in three games this season, pitching 52⁄ innings.

He had elbow surgery in 2012 and shoulder surgery in 2014 after being sidelined for much of the 2014 season with a right shoulder strain. Zimmer didn’t begin his season until May 7 with Wilmington (Del.) of the Class A Carolina League because of shoulder fatigue. uEverett (Wash.) outfielder

The low-A Aberdeen (Md.) righthande­r, who was taken 22nd overall in the 2013 draft, has pitched in five games since 2014, when he was shut down in July because of concerns about his elbow. He missed last year while rehabbing the elbow and had surgery to repair a sports hernia this spring.

The Colombian native was leading the league in hitting (.449), RBI (32), doubles (14), slugging percentage (.806), total bases (79) and extra-base hits (22) through July 22.
