Rookie WR Will Fuller will play a big role in Houston’s offense in 2016. WR DeAndre

Hopkins called Fuller’s performance against the New Orleans Saints his “coming-out game.”

The 21st overall pick caught four passes for 73 yards and a touchdown and could have easily had another had he not misplayed a pass from QB Brock Osweiler.

In team meetings, Osweiler said no one takes more notes than Fuller. But don’t expect him to continue stealing away too much spotlight from Hopkins in the regular season.

“I think we’re just trying to lull defenses to sleep for the regular season and make people think we forgot about him,” Osweiler said of Hopkins’ lack of attention in the preseason.

Rookie watch: Aside from Fuller, WR Braxton Miller is producing at a high level with the first-team unit and caught three passes for 34 yards against the Saints. … Second-round pick C

Nick Martin has a high ankle sprain and likely won’t be back until around the start of the season. … RB Kenny Hilliard had been electric in recent weeks but gained only 11 yards on seven carries against New Orleans. … TE

Stephen Anderson is clawing his way up the depth chart with the most athleticism and reliable hands in the group, but he still has a lot to prove to make the roster.

Noteworthy: OLB Jadeveon Clowney missed time in recent weeks but delivered a monster game against New Orleans. Even with DE J.J. Watt still recovering from back surgery, Clowney beat double teams and sacked Drew Brees. … RB Lamar Miller had an uneventful six carries for 16 yards. … K Nick Novak, competing with Ka’imi Fairbairn, delivered a flawless performance. … Veteran LB Brian Cushing led the team in tackles and has looked faster than he has in years in the preseason.
