Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings wouldn’t confirm a report that shoulder soreness led to QB Teddy Bridgewater sitting out Thursday. After Bridgewater didn’t throw during Saturday’s practice, coach Mike
Zimmer downplayed the situation.
“No, there’s no concern,” he said. “Teddy could’ve played, but I decided not to.”
Bridgewater’s absence provided an important opportunity for 36-year-old backup Shaun Hill, who, after an uneven camp, made generally solid throws and decisions against the Seattle Seahawks’ vaunted defense.
“I thought they’ve done good,” Zimmer said of his backup passers. “Shaun played well the other night, and I thought Joel Stave, in the two ballgames, he has done a good job.” Minnesota signed Brad So
rensen, and Zimmer stressed it was simply to add a fourth camp arm with Taylor Heinicke on the non-football injury list.
Rookie watch: First-round WR Laquon Treadwell led Minnesota in snaps (36) but was blanked on the stat sheet. … Sixthround WR Moritz Boehringer’s playing time went from nine offensive snaps to none in the second game. … Fourth-round OL
Willie Beavers continues looking overmatched and was demoted to the third string behind
Isame Faciane. Noteworthy: Seven defenders have combined for eight sacks through two games. … After An
drew Sendejo started in the opener, Michael Griffin was up first last week in the starting safety battle. Neither has separated. The longer that persists, the longer incumbent Sendejo figures to hold the edge. … The Vikings involved Cordarrelle Patterson on offense in his preseason debut, including an impressive 12-yarder off a bubble screen.
