LaFell fills void as Starks stumbles

-

These players saw their fantasy football values increase or decrease the most based on their performances in Week 13:

SIZZLERS

uWR Brandon LaFell, Cincinnati Bengals: In trying to find a replacement for A.J. Green, Andy Dalton targeted LaFell a team-high seven times in what turned into a fairly easy home win against the Philadelphia Eagles. A now healthier LaFell contributed by catching five of those targets for 95 yards and a touchdown.

uTE Dennis Pitta, Baltimore Ravens: Pitta has played in every game this season but had yet to come close to the nine receptions for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns he managed in Week 13. When the game plan is to attack the middle of the field, Pitta receives a lot of attention from quarterback Joe Flacco.

uWR Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks: Lockett is a hit-or-miss fantasy play week to week. But when he hits, it’s jackpot time. Lockett caught five of six targets for 63 yards and blew up his fantasy score with a 75yard touchdown run.

uWR Tedd Ginn, Jr., Carolina Panthers: Ginn has scored in his last three games, usually breaking at least one reception for a long gain. The Panthers have been involving him more lately, trying to keep his gamebreaking speed on the field.

uQB Brock Osweiler, Houston Texans: He gets a mention primarily because he has been maligned so much this season for his erratic play. Very quietly, Osweiler has put together three consecutive games in which he has scored consistent fantasy points.

FIZZLERS

uRB James Starks, Green Bay Packers: After returning from injury, Starks had been heavily involved over the last three games in the running and passing game. However, he managed 1 yard on four attempts in Week 13 as the Packers leaned instead on Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael.

uTE Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys: After catching at least one pass in 130 consecutive games, Witten did not register even one target in a tough game against the Minnesota Vikings. He spent more time blocking than receiving.

uTE Martellus Bennett, New England Patriots: In a tight end-centric offense in which Rob Gronkowski is lost for the season, fantasy owners expected more than two receptions for 4 yards from such a big and talented player.

uWR Kelvin Benjamin, Carolina Panthers: We figured it would be a tough assignment for Benjamin against the Seahawks secondary in Seattle. Benjamin was targeted a healthy nine times but only managed to catch two of them for 18 yards.

uQB Colin Kaepernick, San Francisco 49ers: From one of the top fantasy performances of the season last week to one completion in three quarters of play against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. (Yes, one completion!) Kaepernick was benched in the fourth quarter as Blaine Gabbert finished the game.
