Information: 772-871-2115; nymets.com Prospect to watch: Dominic Smith, 1B. Smith is a hefty (6-0, 250 pounds) first baseman with solid all-around tools. He’s a line-drive hitter with a gap-to-gap approach, but he isn’t afraid to turn on a fastball and pull it for a home run. He hit a career-high 14 homers in 2016. A good athlete, the 21-year-old has a skill set that has never been questioned, though he doesn’t have much foot speed. Smith hit .302 with 91 RBI and a .824 on-base-plus-slugging percentage in Class AA last season. He will report to Class AAA after an invitation to spring training.
