Zack Greinke, Diamondbacks

Owner Ken Kendrick pushed Arizona to commit $206.5 million to Greinke two offseasons ago. So far, not so good. While consuming nearly 35% of the team’s player payroll last year, Greinke recorded a 4.37 ERA and had shoulder issues. His velocity lagged in spring training, and he needed 92 pitches to get through five sloppy innings on opening day. Greinke, 33, is highly athletic and a brilliant tactician, but his performances will be among the most scrutinized in baseball.
