When the Tigers and Indians next meet in a four-game series May 1-4 in Detroit, it will be interesting to see if the hostilities between Tigers first baseman

Miguel Cabrera and Indians manager Terry Francona are renewed.

Cabrera got into a shouting match with Francona on April 14 after an inside pitch from Trevor Bauer in the first inning. Cabrera yelled and gestured toward Francona in the dugout before stepping back into the batter’s box and belting a three-run homer that helped spark the Tigers’ 7-6 victory.

“It was an argument between Francona and me, and that’s it,” Cabrera said. “No one else. He made his point, I made my point. It was just Francona and me. I say something bad, he said something back to me.”

Right- hander Justin Verlander tied a career high by giving up nine runs April 15, then scoffed at talk that he might be tipping pitches. Verlander tweeted a photo of himself drinking a beer in a pool with the caption, “Working on my tipping.”

Highly regarded relief prospect Joe Jimenez, who amassed a 1.56 ERA in 1441⁄ innings in five 3 minor league seasons, pitched a scoreless inning in his major league debut April 13 against the Twins after being recalled from Class AAA Toledo (Ohio). The 22-year-old was optioned back to the Mud Hens after the game.
