The Jaguars are knee-deep in a preseason quarterback controversy because of the poor play of
Blake Bortles. After going 8for-13 for 65 yards in a 12-8 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Bortles was booed by Jaguars fans and faced harsh criticism from head coach Doug Marrone, who officially opened up the team’s quarterback job.
“I’m not happy with the performance,” Marrone said. “I’m not going to sit here and BS anyone. Everyone saw it out there. Whatever you want to call it, I’m still trying to evaluate who the best person is at that position.”
Backup QB Chad Henne
worked briefly with the first-team offense and has gone 11-for-16 for 183 yards with a touchdown in two games.
