Titans’ keys to victory
Tennessee’s running game should dictate who wins. The Dolphins struggled to stop the run during the preseason, as they are trying to replace defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh’s production. Also, the Dolphins struggle defending mobile quarterbacks, so look for the Titans to incorporate Marcus Mariota’s athletic ability into their game plan.
Dolphins’ keys to victory
In last year’s meeting against the Titans, the Dolphins sacked QB Matt Cassel six times. With Mariota, who was injured during last season’s meeting, expected to start, the task will be difficult. Offseason acquisition Robert Quinn had three sacks in three preseason games. The Dolphins believe Quinn, along with Cameron Wake (101⁄2 sacks last season), should help increase their sack totals in 2018. Can the Dolphins force the Titans into a lot of of third-andlong situations and take Tennessee’s run game away?
Who wins?
The Dolphins’ run defense (151.5 yards allowed during the preseason) and tackling issues will likely carry over as Derrick Henry (6-3, 247 pounds) will be a load to take down. The Titans should have a lot of second-and-shorts and thirdand-shorts, and they should be able to move the ball down the field against the Dolphins.
