Danny by 3 Sheridan’s line:
Giants’ keys to victory
Jaguars
The Giants have lacked a successful ground game for quite some time, so rookie RB Saquon Barkley will help boost their rushing attack and establish play-action, allowing Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram to open the field for QB Eli Manning. With so many elite playmakers, it becomes a “pick your poison” scenario for the Jaguars.
Jaguars’ keys to victory
The Giants have several noticeable weaknesses, including a shaky right side of the offensive line, anchored by RG Patrick Omameh and RT Ereck Flowers. If Jacksonville can collapse the right side of the line and keep pressure on the quarterback, the Jaguars are bound to create mistakes and force turnovers. On offense, Jacksonville should also look to expose the Giants over the middle of the field, where their linebackers are notoriously poor in coverage. It should be a considerable advantage for RB Leonard Fournette and company.
Who wins?
In Tom Coughlin’s first return to East Rutherford on the opposing sideline as executive vice president of football operations, his team will do what it had done consistently for a decade: win. Unfortunately for the Giants, he’s no longer their coach and his latest victory will put New York in a 0-1 hole to start the regular season. But it won’t come easy.
