Steelers’ keys to victory
Steelers
Getting production out of a receiver other than WR Antonio Brown is a big key for the offense. With the injuries at tight end, Pittsburgh needs WR JuJu SmithSchuster and rookie WR James Washington to step up against an overhauled Browns secondary. Protecting QB Ben Roethlisberger against DE Myles Garrett is imperative. On defense, the secondary needs to step up and handle playing in nickel and dime situations. The depth will be tested and the preseason did little to inspire confidence.
Browns’ keys to victory
Striking an offensive balance to keep the Steelers defense from playing in attack mode is a huge key for new offensive coordinator Todd Haley, facing his former team. QB Tyrod Taylor needs to make smart decisions and fellow newcomers RB Carlos Hyde and WR Jarvis Landry must keep the chains moving rather than relying on the big play. S Damarious Randall, also new, must not get beat over the top by Pittsburgh’s impressive aerial attack. An early takeaway or two would do wonders for the talented Browns defense.
Who wins?
The Browns quietly have amassed a stunning level of talent for a franchise with one win in two seasons. They show it off and beat their rival, something they’ve done just once since 2012.
