Redskins’ keys to victory

They can’t let Cardinals RB David Johnson take over. They have to use their strong edge presence and get to QB Sam Bradford. On offense, this will be a revenge game of sorts for RB Adrian Peterson, who was cut by the Cardinals during the offseason. At 33, he is still very capable of big games and had a 134-yard game in his Cardinals debut last season and ran for 159 yards two games later. He had 56 yards in his lone preseason game with the Redskins. Washington has to get Peterson going and then attack through the air with TE Jordan Reed. Reed dealt with injury issues last season but had 17 TD receptions between 2015 and 2016.

Cardinals’ keys to victory

With a new coach, new quarterback and new schemes on offense and defense, the Cardinals will win if they can do the things Steve Wilks has preached: Be stout against the run, stop Peterson, force QB Alex Smith to throw to his average receivers and Johnson going. If the running back can get established early, Washington will have a tough time. Johnson missed most of 2017 with an injury but had more than 2,100 combined rushing and receiving yards in 2016. “I think he might be one of our best route runners, regardless of position,” Bradford said via The Arizona Republic.

Who wins?

The Cardinals get a boost from the home crowd and a big game from Johnson. Cardinals, 24-13
