Danny Sheridan’s line: Ravens by 41⁄2
Broncos’ keys to victory: The Broncoshave to harass QB Joe Flacco. A good pass rush will force Flacco to throw high or wide. Hitting WR John Brown at the line and rolling a safety to his side is important since he has been a goto option in the passing game. Rushing the ball well will force the Ravens defense to either put their cornerbacks in one-on-one coverage more often or blitz less frequently. That will leave them more exposed to things such as crossing patterns and slants in the middle of the field, where the Ravens linebackers struggle to cover well.
Ravens’ keys to victory: Running the ball effectively is the quickest way to stymie a pass rush, and Baltimore hasn’t been doing well at either area this season. Getting consistent and quick pressure on Broncos QB Case Keenum is important to negate WRs Emmanuel Sanders and Demaryius Thomas. Letting Keenum have a clean pocket will allow him to find mismatches against linebackers and reserve cornerbacks. Making a big play on defense is also vital. In games in which the Ravens had a positive turnover differential dating to last year, they’re 10-1. In games in which they tie or lose the turnover battle, they’re 1-7.
Matchup to watch: Broncos OLB Von Miller vs. Ravens RT James Hurst. Miller is arguably the best at his position while Hurst continues to struggle this season.
Who wins? The Ravens typically feast on underwhelming quarterbacks such as Keenum. Their potent pass rush and turnover-happy secondary are too much for the Broncos to overcome. Ravens 23-20
