Panthers’ keys to victory: Despite a supposedly upgraded wide receiver corps and a clever new offensive coordinator (Norv Turner), QB Cam Newton apparently still carries this Carolina team. Newton made it interesting against Atlanta, but his receivers kept letting him down by dropping passes. While RB C.J. Anderson was the worst offender, it was a team failure.

Matchup to watch: Bengals RBs vs. Panthers LBs Luke Kuechly and Shaq Thompson. Combined with RBs Joe Mixon and Giovani Bernard, the Bengals have the weapons to test a Panthers defense that got run over by the Falcons. Carolina’s real problem was an uncharacteristic off week by a normally solid rushing defense that allowed the Falcons to average 5.3 yards per attempt.

Who wins? Despite an offense that’s still coming together, Newton and the excellent Carolina defense will bring home a win.
