Cowboys’ keys to victory: Dallas will need to start strong and score quickly. The Cowboys should look to expose Seahawks CB Tre Flowers and DE Rasheem Green, rookies who are still getting a feel for NFL game speed. RB Ezekiel Elliott will have to find his footing and mount a relentless attack to tire Seattle’s defenders. Seahawks QB Russell Wilson will be the goal, not unobtainable considering the struggles of Seattle’s revamped offensive line.
Seahawks’ keys to victory: Seattle desperately needs to solidify its run game. First-round rookie RB Rashaad Penny and secondyear back Chris Carson will likely split carries, but the Seahawks will need to find a way to convert on third downs. With WR Doug Baldwin still dealing with a medial collateral ligament injury, veterans Brandon Marshall and Tyler Lockett will factor heavily into the air game. Seattle’s new-look defensive front must focus on a stout pass rush to lighten the load on the secondary, especially the young cornerbacks. Exploiting QB Dak Prescott’s recent struggles will give Seattle the edge.
Matchup to watch: Dak Prescott vs. Seahawks’ secondary. The Seattle secondary saw an immediate improvement with the return of FS Earl Thomas, but Prescott will likely test Seattle’s cornerbacks throughout the contest. Seattle’s Shaquill Griffin had two interceptions in Week 2.
Who wins? The Seahawks are hard to beat on their home turf. If Wilson and the offense build a lead, it will be tough to come back against “the 12th man.”
