Danny Sheridan’s line: Giants by 31⁄2
Dolphins’ keys to victory: Miami can’t get too pass heavy, no matter how tempting that might be for QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Dolphins will need to find a way to get rookie RB Myles Gaskin and RB Patrick Laird going to create some offensive balance. Meanwhile, Miami’s defense will need to create turnovers to help offset the amount of points it surrenders and help keep the time of possession close.
Giants’ keys to victory: The Dolphins of late have looked like a completely different team than earlier this season. Their offense has improved in the red zone, reduced the number of turnovers and scored more points. But Miami still struggles against the run, which means the Giants should lean heavily on RB Saquon Barkley and feature him both on the ground and through the air. Defensively, New York must stop WR DeVante Parker, who is a game changer and easily Miami’s best offensive talent.
Matchup to watch: Dolphins’ Parker vs. Giants CB Janoris Jenkins. The Giants have been burned consistently by No. 1 wide receivers this season, and Parker could light up the box score in a hurry. Jenkins has griped about not covering the opposing No. 1 this season, and this might be the game he finally gets the green light to do so. The game could be won or lost based on this matchup.
Who wins? Both teams will be playing for pride and trying to develop young players. Look for the Giants to protect the home field in a tight game.
