Jaguars keys to victory: Jacksonville’s success on offense this season has relied on big plays, both on the ground and in the passing game. The Jaguars’ offense is carried by their two top wide receivers in DJ Chark and Dede Westbrook. Those are two of the best deep-threat weapons in the NFL and help open up the run game for RB Leonard Fournette. But Chark was injured in Week 14 and his status for this week is unknown, which means the team could lean on veteran WR Chris Conley. On defense, the Jaguars should have no problem generating pressure on Raiders QB Derek Carr.
Raiders’ keys to victory: The Raiders’ offense has relied on rookie RB Josh Jacobs to carry them this season, but a shoulder injury kept him out of action in Week 14. He is expected to return to the lineup but Oakland is without injured TE Foster Moreau. On defense, Oakland will need to create turnovers, but it hasn’t been able to stop anyone of late.
Matchup to watch: Jaguars’ Westbrook vs. Raiders CB Trayvon Mullen. With Chark likely out, Jacksonville will turn to WR Dede Westbrook to carry their offense. Westbrook has blazing speed but can be inconsistent from week to week. Look for Raiders rookie CB Trayvon Mullen to match up with Westbrook as he has quickly become Oakland’s top cornerback.
Who wins? The Raiders still have a glimmer of playoff hope left and desperately need a win to stay alive in the AFC postseason race. This is also their final regular-season home game in Oakland.
