Danny Sheridan’s Browns by 21⁄2
Browns’ keys to victory: The Cardinals have been awful with their pass defense all season, yet the Browns have been bad of late and WR Odell Beckham Jr. has been dealing with injuries and frustration. QB Baker Mayfield needs to find his playmakers. The Cardinals haven’t generated many turnovers, so by simply taking care of the ball should help score points. On defense, the key is to pressure QB Kyler Murray, who has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in three consecutive games. He had three interceptions last week.
Cardinals’ keys to victory: They have to get in an offensive rhythm early, involving RBs Kenyan Drake and David Johnson. When they do, they move the ball. Johnson hasn’t rushed for more than 20 yards since Oct. 13 but had 34 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 14. Defensively, the Cardinals have to force the Browns to make bad throws. A turnover or two would counter the yards they give up.
Matchup to watch: Browns’ Beckham vs. Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson. Neither player has had the season he envisioned, but seeing them lock up against each other is must-watch TV. Secondarily, Cardinals CB Byron Murphy vs. Browns WR Jarvis Landry is also worth watching. Landry has 75 or more receiving yards the last three weeks.
Who wins? The Cardinals close out their home schedule with a good showing offensively, but the defense makes things interesting and they lose their seventh game in a row.
