Patriots’ keys to victory: It’s been a tough year, but one thing they’ve shown they can do is run the football. QB Cam Newton still has the ability to change a game with his legs, and New England boasts a deep backfield committee that includes Damien Harris, Rex Burkhead and James Taylor. The Jets, meanwhile, have struggled mightily against the run. New England should emphasize its ground game from the get-go while using more than one running back on the field at once. Without a high-powered offense of its own, capitalizing on New York’s mistakes is an easy way to create favorable scoring position.

Jets’ keys to victory: Just as the Patriots need to rely on the run, the Jets need to find a way to stop it. DT Quinnen Williams has been a disruptor in the backfield but has not had much help. Defensive coordinator Gregg Williams might want to consider using a safety as a spy. WR Denzel Mims and RB La’Mical Perine, both rookies, have looked strong in recent weeks and should continue to be featured on offense. Their increased inclusion will only benefit their development and New York’s future.

Matchup to watch: Patriots head coach Bill Belichick vs. Jets head coach Adam Gase. Neither team is very good, but New England has a clear edge in coaching. We’ve seen Belichick laugh at decisions Gase has made in prior matchups. Keeping an eye out for something of that nature is reason enough to focus on these two.

Who wins? Look for New England to pick up a win, even if it’s ugly.

Patriots 20-10
