Washington (2-5) at Broncos (3-4)
Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET, Empower Field at Mile High, Denver TV: Fox
Tipico Sportsbook line: Broncos by 3 ⁄2

Washington’s keys to victory: Washington should be aggressive in the passing game, targeting WR Terry McLaurin deep. Denver’s secondary depth chart looks great on paper, but on the field the Broncos have allowed a deep (48 yards or more) touchdown pass in three of their last four games. On defense, Washington will look to dominate the line of scrimmage with an impressive defensive line that features DE Chase Young and DT Jonathan Allen. Denver’s offensive line has struggled in recent weeks, and Young has the talent to blow up any game plan.
Broncos’ keys to victory: Much like Denver’s, Washington’s secondary has been underperforming in recent weeks, which is great news for QB Teddy Bridgewater. The 28-year-old has been efficient this season, completing 70.1% of his passes for 1,701 yards with 12 touchdown passes against five interceptions. Bridgewater could be poised to have a strong day against Washington, especially if WR Jerry Jeudy (ankle) returns. The Broncos have talented RBs in Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams, but Bridgewater’s arm should be a focus with the RBs playing a complementary role.
Matchup to watch: Washington WR Terry McLaurin vs. Broncos CB Pat Surtain II. McLaurin is one of the NFL’s best receivers and will be a tough assignment for Surtain, a first-round rookie impressing his coaches.
Who wins? Both teams will probably be playing for pride soon, but the Broncos, with a better chance to reach the playoffs, squeak out a win at home.
