Packers’ keys to victory: The key to thwarting the Kansas City offense is putting pressure on QB Patrick Mahomes. Getting to the quarterback hasn’t exactly been the strong suit for Green Bay, which is missing starting LB Za’Darius Smith. The Packers need players like DL Rashan Gary, LB Kenny Clark and LB Preston Smith to frustrate the new-look offensive line .
Chiefs’ keys to victory: Limit mistakes, scheme success. Kansas City maintains that its biggest problems this season have been self-inflicted. Turnovers and penalties have limited the offense from being what it could be. Look for the Chiefs to get either RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire (should he return from injured reserve) or RB Darrel Williams going against a defense that allows on average 115 rushing yards per game. Also look for the Chiefs to design some plays to get WR Tyreek Hill and TE Travis Kelce the ball in space.
Matchup to watch: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes vs. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. This has been one of the league’s most anticipated quarterback matchups since Mahomes took the NFL by storm during his 2018 MVP season. Two years ago, Mahomes missed his first chance to face Rodgers due to a kneecap injury. Many liken Mahomes’ style to Rodgers.
Who wins? The Chiefs have struggled this season, barely escaping the Giants in Week 8, and the Packers look like one of the best teams in the NFC. Kansas City will put up a fight, but expect it to fall short.
