The Cowboys traded four-time Pro Bowl selection Amari Cooper to the Browns, and Cedrick Wilson Jr. signed with the Dolphins. They combined for 113 catches, 1,467 yards and 14 touchdowns for last season’s top-ranked offense. Re-signing Michael Gallup for $57.5 million was a gamble with him coming off ACL surgery in February, and Dallas is likely to be in the draft market. Trading up for Ohio State WR Chris Olave is an option Dallas will weigh.
There’s an argument to be made this is the team’s top need. Left guard Connor Williams departed for Miami, right tackle La’el Collins joined the Bengals and left tackle Tyron Smith is 31 and has missed 20 games to injury in the past two seasons.
The Cowboys re-signed Leighton Vander Esch and signed hybrid LB/DE Dante Fowler, but neither is the kind of dynamic partner needed for 2021 NFL defensive rookie of the year Micah Parsons. Jabril Cox remains a mystery after his rookie season ended with a torn ACL
in Week 7.
Defensive end
Dallas locked up DeMarcus Lawrence to a three-year deal but lost Randy Gregory to the Broncos. Lawrence missed 10 games last season and hasn’t reached double-digit sacks since 2018.
Dalton Schultz got the franchise tag after he set career highs across the board in 2021, including eight touchdown grabs. Blake Jarwin’s release leaves Jeremy Sprinkle (three catches in 2021) as the TE2 entering the draft.
