CLUBHOUSE INCIDENT GETS PITCHER SALE SUSPENDED
Chicago White Sox pitcher Chris
Sale was suspended for five days for violating team rules, for insubordination and for destroying team equipment, the club announced Sunday. Sale destroyed the team’s throwback jerseys ahead of Saturday’s game against the Detroit Tigers, according to media reports. The White Sox scratched him from his start and sent him home after what the team called in a news release “a clubhouse incident.” Rick Hahn, the White Sox general manager and senior vice president, said in a statement, “While we appreciate Chris’ talent and passion, there is a correct way and an incorrect way too express concerns about the team and organizational expectations.” Sale’s suspension began Saturday and will last until Wednesday. The left-hander has a 14-3 record and 3.18 ERA.
