In a commentary for USA TODAY, Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein explained that her calls for a vote recount in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin aren’t meant to change the result of the election but to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the votes.

I wish Stein would’ve picked Illinois. That state’s voting process seems pretty dubious. I’m surprised Stein only picked three states with thin margins.

I believe the Green Party will never amount to any serious threat, other than playing a spoiler for a candidate on a major party ticket. Rick Harrison

Here is the thing: It doesn’t matter whether the recount overturns the election or not. It matters that we do this recount to make sure that votes are valid.

I don’t like President-elect Donald Trump, but that is totally moot in this. I want to know if there were any problems in the tallying of votes, if there was any tampering and if the numbers are correct. At the very least, if we uncover any of that we can guard against it in the future.

We cannot fix a problem if we refuse to even look to see if we have one after all. Jeff Felix

I think Stein is such a liar. The only reason she is spearheading this recount is to get Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton elected president. Scott Simpson

Stein is correct. The sanctity of our most important right is crucial to our nation.

I am confident, after reading her commentary, that Stein will support a national voter ID requirement. Timothy Collins

Why not take that money being used for the recount and contribute it to helping schools or the poor? This is yet another reason why people are tired of the government norm. Alexander Ferguson
