The Clintons worked for their American dream

- LETTERS LETTERS@USATODAY.COM

Contrary to what Steven Strauss writes

in his column, “The Clintons have done enough damage,” Hillary and Bill Clinton are brilliant and capable people who believe that government can be a force for good.

Hillary’s emails and server were a non-story, in my opinion. Secretary Colin Powell used his own private email account and nobody cared. And Powell never turned over his emails to the State Deptartment.

As for the Clinton Foundation, it has helped the lives of millions of people around the world, especially those with AIDS. The foundation distributes medication to AIDS patients at a very low cost.

Yes, the Clintons have made money in the years since Bill Clinton left the presidency. But they did not steal the money, or make the money by exploiting the working class the way President-elect Donald Trump has done. Neither did they inherit their money the way Trump did. The Clintons have worked for their American dream.

There was nothing wrong with Bill speaking to Attorney General Loretta Lynch either. President Obama had endorsed Hillary and there is no way that the Justice Department would ever have prosecuted Hillary for a rightwing-concocted scandal.

Hillary won the popular vote. However, she will not be our president because a lot of her supporters took her election for granted and did not turn out to vote. Also, because of Russia, Julian Assange and FBI Director James Comey, who I’m sure were out to get Hillary.

Hillary is a an experienced, knowledgeable, tough, hardworking person who would have been a great president. Bill Clinton’s legacy as president was peace and prosperity.

Americans are now stuck with Trump, a tabloid king and reality star, who has more in common with Kim Kardashian than Abraham Lincoln.
