INFINITI QX50 CONCEPT SHOWS OFF EARLY SELF-DRIVING TECH

Infiniti’s Pro Pilot is said to “delegate” the boring parts of driving — stop-and-go traffic, for instance — to the driver-assist computer. “We don’t take the driver out of the equation,” Infiniti President Roland Krueger told reporters. “We really want to make sure that driving is still fun and you have a choice to engage or disengage as you like.”

VOLVO SHOUTS, ‘WAGONS HO!’

In a world dominated by sport-utility vehicles, Volvo isn’t leaving the humble station wagon behind.

Volvo is featuring its elegant V90 station wagon at the North American Internatio­nal Auto Show here.

It completes a trio of large vehicles that began with the acclaimed XC90 SUV and S90 sedan.

TOP-SELLER GETS AN UPDATE: 2018 FORD F-150

Ford’s F-150 pickup gets a midcycle refresh, and the update includes a redesigned front-end grille and wheel options; bolder seat colors; first-in-class technologi­cal offerings; and a new diesel engine among other enhanced features.

The company touts the new F-150 as being capable of its best towing ever and is equipping it with radar and cameras to slow or stop a vehicle before it has a chance to collide with a pedestrian or another vehicle.

TOYOTA CAMRY: ‘IF YOU THINK I’M SEXY’

One of the most important presentati­ons in terms of sales at the Detroit auto show was the redesign of the top-selling car in the United States: the Toyota Camry.

Toyota is attempting to inject fresh energy into the dependable sedan and joked that customers will get a choice between “sexy and really sexy.”

The 2018 model is available with three powertrain options and will be a little longer and a little lower.

A MAKEOVER FOR THE MERCEDES-BENZ GLA

The updated version of the compact GLA Class crossover gives it a more aggressive and SUV-like look.

The 2018 model gets modified bumpers, new wheel designs and adds the color “Canyon Beige.” It also features optional hands-free access that allows the owner to open and close the trunk with a foot movement.
