We’ll love America, even if it doesn’t love us back

President Trump’s travel ban bothers me to my core. But what bothers me more is the false sympathy that’s present because of it.

Whether it’s a 40-year-old hijabi woman like my mother or a 15-year-old high school student like myself, any Muslim American can share her experience with veiled Islamophobia since 9/11. This ban lifts the veil. Sadly, we’ve learned to cope. Not with violence or anger, but with love.

Muslims across the U.S. have given everything they have for this country — whether in the medical field or in military service. Nearly 6,000 U.S. servicemembers self-identify as Muslims, because Prophet Mohammed taught us, “Love of one’s country is part of one’s faith.” And we will continue loving America, even if sometimes it does not love us back. Sinaan Yonus Perry Hill, Md. Sometimes, campaign promises need to be

adjusted for the greater good. Instead of building a wall along our Southern border that will cost Americans billions, President Trump should use that money to repair America’s aging infrastructure. Not only would this give roads, bridges, water and sewer lines much needed upgrades, it would create jobs across all of America. If Trump really wants to Make America Great Again, he should start by fixing what is already broken. Michael Wetterauer Henderson, Nev. Of course Trump supporters are worried. They just realized we have incompetents running the country. Today it’s banning green card holders with Ph.D.s and jobs returning to the U.S. Tomorrow it’s starting a pointless trade war with China and Mexico.

And whatever you do, don’t mention how few people came to President Trump’s inauguration or we are all in for trouble! Raffi Roupen

Who cares? People were inconvenienced a little bit. Too bad. If you don’t like America, go home and fight for your country. It’s amazing that refugees already feel entitled. It didn’t take long for them to learn the liberal way. Chad Clausen

We asked our followers if they thought President Trump’s travel ban was a good measure to combat terrorism. It’s a good measure to keep our country safer for all Americans and those legal to be here. How can that not be OK? @roth12_colleen It is only temporary. Time to develop a more organized immigration plan and properly vet refugees. @princesslucymoo Considering it bans people from countries that haven’t killed an American recently in a terrorist attack, it should be eliminated. @Politicalpulse1 It’s a great measure. We have to find better ways to vet people and better ways to determine their potential for radical ideology. @jjzone44 The chances of someone coming in to do us harm are so small that this resembles using a shotgun to kill a fly. @sagestats
