TONIGHT ON TV
MOM CBS, 9 ET/PT
Bonnie falls for a handsome, sober stranger — which, of course, puts her relationship with Adam at risk. Before you yell at her for being foolish, make note that the handsome stranger is played by David James Elliott of
JAG, the show that gave us NCIS and all its progeny. If you want to yell at someone, yell at him for that.
SCANDAL ABC, 9 ET/PT
One criticism of this wildly overheated potboiler is that it has always been too absurd to be taken seriously, but in this current political climate, that actually may be an asset. Considering how divided and on edge we seem to be, a series that too closely mirrors reality would be sure to upset at least part of the audience. But a show in which the Democratic vice-president-elect is implicated in the assassination of his running mate — and that’s just the latest of Cyrus’ crimes — well, that’s a show detached enough from reality to be reasonably safe viewing.
THE BLACKLIST NBC, 10 ET/PT
While Red searches for a criminal targeting his businesses, Tom (Ryan Eggold) is distracted by an event that sends him hunting for information about his past. Don’t be shocked if the hunt leads him to his own spinoff series: The
Blacklist: Redemption, coming Feb. 23.
