No ‘Lie’: Reese Witherspoon, Hollywood’s No. 1 cheerleader for books by women, has been a champion of Liane Moriarty’s page-turner Big Little Lies from the get-go. And now, with the high-profile HBO adaptation starring Witherspoon in full swing, Moriarty’s novel is rising again on USA TODAY’s BestSelling Books list. This week it hits No. 3, matching its previous high of Aug. 7, 2014, when it landed as an immediate best seller at No. 3. The novel has been in USA TODAY’s top 150 for 93 weeks and returned to the top 50 on Jan. 19 at No. 44, as publicity for the sevenpart miniseries geared up. Witherspoon quickly snapped up rights to Moriarty’s spicy tale of helicopter moms and murder; co-star Nicole Kidman also is an executive producer on the series. Witherspoon, who shares books she’s reading on Instagram via #RWBookclub, is continuing her love affair with Moriarty. The actress and Kidman have acquired rights to Truly Madly Guilty, which landed on the list at No. 2 on Aug. 4, 2016. Thrawn brawn: On movie screens, Darth Vader has always been the go-to bad guy in the Empire for Star Wars fans, though in the 1990s a new generation fell in love with Grand Admiral Thrawn from the pages of Timothy Zahn’s

Star Wars novels. And just as a new trilogy is rolling out in theaters, Thrawn is again having a moment — he’s a top villain on Disney XD’s Star Wars Rebels animated series and he returns to the literary world in Zhan’s Star Wars: Thrawn (Del Rey, out April 11).
