GREY’S ANATOMY ABC, 8 ET/PT

Need proof that Grey’s must still be doing something right? After all these years, the show continues to attract some first-rate guest actors, this week including June Squibb, Hal Holbrook and (returning as Maggie’s mom), LaTanya Richardson Jackson. The episode is directed by series star Kevin McKidd, whose Owen will be kept busy trying to hash out his problems with Amelia.

SUPERSTORE NBC, 8 ET/PT

Speaking of star directors,

Superstore’s America Ferrera steps behind the camera to make her TV directorial debut with this outing that finds Mateo’s transfer endangered by his undocumented status. It’s easy to dismiss these efforts as just another star perk, but they’re actually one of the great, unsung benefits of modern series TV. They expand opportunities for women and minorities who might otherwise be shut out of the directors’ club; they give actors a chance to see the profession from the other side; and they can open the door to new and sometimes longer careers.

GOJIRA (GODZILLA), KING KONG AND INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS TCM, 8 ET/5 PT

Sit back and watch stars being born as TCM airs the original versions of Godzilla and King

Kong (10 ET/7 PT). Then prepare to be creeped out by one of the best (and still most relevant) sci-fi films of all time, Invasion (midnight ET/9 PT).
