On Holocaust Remembrance Day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that anti-Semitism and apathy to cruelty remain a critical global problem. He also lauded President Trump for his military strike on Syria after a chemical weapons attack.

The Israeli prime minister has it all wrong. There are Jewish people who agree that Israeli actions are obscene and should not be tolerated. People disagree with Netanyahu because they see the hypocrisy of a country that suffered the same treatment they are now dishing out against Palestinians.

They’ll allow Jewish settlers to build housing in contested land but tear down housing that Palestinians try to build.

He’s the racist! And as bullies typically do, he attacks others who would stand up to his atrocious behavior. Time to oust him and work toward world peace. Ed Montvidas

I humbly pose that there is a big difference between antiSemitism and anti-Israel. One can love Jewish people, but be disgusted by the Israeli government. Brian Mooney

It’s a good day to also remember all victims of genocide: Native Americans, Armenians, Rwandans, Cambodians, African slaves, Bosnian Muslims, etc. Robert Bailey

Any leader capable of saying “all (fill in blank with race, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual preference etc.) are evil” or “need to be banned” is capable of turning on any group.

No one group of people can be painted with the same broad brush, as Trump has done. Netanyahu’s praise of Trump reminds us why we need to remember the Holocaust. Ellen McCann
