CRITIC’S CORNER
CATASTROPHE AMAZON, FRIDAY This abrasively funny comedy from Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan, already renewed for its fourth season, returns for its third with the couple’s never exactly rock-solid marriage in deep trouble. There’s a bittersweet side, however, to the comedy’s return: It features the final performance by the late Carrie Fisher, who played Rob’s mother.
THE SIMPSONS FOX, SUNDAY, 8 ET/PT Absolutely Fabulous star Jennifer Saunders is the latest to lend her voice to this long-running classic as Bart once again finds a way to turn punishment into reward — and then punishment. Having misbehaved in school on Grandparents Day, Bart is sentenced to hang out with some local grandmothers. The lesson he learns is that it can be easy to take advantage of the elderly, but it’s never, ever wise. Oh, and there’s a Pokémon spoof thrown in for extra measure.
AMERICAN CRIME ABC, SUNDAY, 10 ET/PT Through seven intense episodes, this exceptional, difficult series, which airs its finale tonight, has focused its penetrating gaze on some of the people in our society we tend to overlook, from homeless teenagers caught in the sex trade to the migrant workers who pick our crops. And what happened? Pretty much nobody looked, which counts as both irony and tragedy.
