Bruce Springsteen, ‘That’s What Makes Us Great’
Bruce Springsteen has collaborated with musician Joe Grushecky on a track that might make President Trump sad, a protest tune titled That’s What Makes Us Great. Grushecky revealed to the Pittsburgh PostGazette that he invited The Boss to appear on the song he wrote. “I sent it to him and he liked it,” Grushecky said. “I said, ‘What do you think about singing on it?’ He gave it the Bruce treatment.” Like many celebrities, Springsteen has denounced Trump’s immigration policies. “Tonight we want to add our voices to the thousands of Americans who are protesting in airports around our country,” he said during a concert in Adelaide, Australia, in January. The song ’s lyrics encourage unity and acceptance: “Love can conquer hate / I know this to be true / That’s what makes us great.”
