‘Kimmy,’ ‘Master of None’ re-bloom in May

MAY 1

Spin (WalterPres­ents.com): Get ready for France’s May 7 runoff presidenti­al election between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen with that country’s answer to House of Cards and Scandal.

MAY 2

Scott Hamilton Today (People.com/PEN) The 1984 Olympic gold medalist and figure-skating commentato­r, 58, allowed cameras to document his life as he deals with his third brain tumor after his initial battle with testicular cancer in 1997.

MAY 5

Sense8 (Netflix): Positive early reviews of Season 2 of the Wachowskis’ sci-fi drama, about eight emotionall­y connected strangers from different parts of the world, indicate the show has successful­ly avoided the sophomore slump. It even answers last season’s questions before introducin­g new mysteries!

MAY 9

The Moorside (BritBox.com): This two-part drama was a big hit for the BBC earlier this year, and stars Gemma Whelan as the mother of a missing 9-year-old girl whose behavior leads her friends to believe she was involved her the disappeara­nce.

MAY 12

Master of None (Netflix): Struggling actor Dev (Aziz Ansari) is back for Season 2, but no more capable of making career or lunch plans than when we last saw him.

Anne With an E (Netflix): This is a new bosom friend for a new generation, updating Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic 19th-century tale about an outspoken, ginger-haired orphan (Amybeth McNulty) who shakes up the lives of an elderly brother and sister (R.H. Thomson and Geraldine James) — and all of Prince Edward Island. I Love Dick (Amazon): Transparen­t’s Kathryn Hahn steps in for author Chris Kraus in this adaptation of her 1997 novel, in which she copes with boredom in her new home of Marfa, Texas, by writing love letters to Dick (Kevin Bacon), the cowboy academic overseeing her husband’s fellowship. He’s not interested, so Chris’ husband (Griffin Dunne) steps in and writes back as Dick. MAY 15 Decline and Fall (Acorn): In this three-part BBC adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s novel, Oxford student Paul Pennyfeath­er (Jack Whitehall) gets a job teaching in Wales after he’s expelled for drunken shenanigan­s. He becomes attracted — and later engaged — to a pupil’s mother (Eva Longoria), unaware of the source of her money: a string of high-end South American brothels. (Did we mention this takes place in 1920s England?)

MAY 19

Unbreakabl­e Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix): Kimmy (Ellie Kemper) got her GED and is a college student. Meanwhile, Titus (Tituss Burgess) has made landfall after his cruise-ship gig, and is gunning for a new one on Sesame Street.

MAY 23

Casual (Hulu). Season 3 finds divorced mom Valerie (Michaela Watkins) ready to move out of her brother Alex’s (Tommy Dewey) house, and both of them fighting the urge to resort to codependen­cy after participat­ing in their father’s euthanasia.

Logan (OnDemand): Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine went out on a high note with this film that finds the clawed character caring for his old friend Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), who’s now suffering from a degenerati­ve brain disease, even as he tries to reconcile his desire to help others with his own failing body.

MAY 30

House of Cards (Netflix): When we last saw President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and wife Claire (Robin Wright), they were running mates in the 2016 election and dealing with a hostage crisis amid the political scandal following a newspaper article that exposed the president’s crimes. We’re not sure how it can get worse for them, but knowing this couple, they’ll find a way.
