THE GOLDBERGS ABC, 8 ET/PT

This outing, titled The Day After The Day After, is a good example of why this comedy drives those of us with a literal bent crazy. The dual-pronged story has Erica and Adam plying Beverly with Mother’s Day gifts while Barry freaks out over ABC’s nuclear apocalypse film The Day After. Fine, except that Mother’s Day is in May and The Day After aired in November — which makes one wonder why Barry is panicking now when most of the nation was debating this heavily covered, record-setting movie six months earlier. It’s just one of those times when The Goldbergs’ “all at once” view of the ’80s seems less like an artistic choice and more like an excuse to be sloppy and lazy.

LAW & ORDER: SVU NBC, 9 ET/PT

SVU is on a media roll. Last week it did a take on the Fox News sex scandals. This week it tackles Pizzagate, “fake news” and Internet trolls.

ARCHER FXX, 10 ET/PT

There is much to love about this extremely funny 1940s-set season of Archer, from the reliably witty dialogue to the way it has allowed the writers to reset the characters in new roles while still keeping them and their relationships true at their core. But this week, just take in the sheer beauty of the animation. L.A. has seldom looked better.
