FORMER NBA PLAYER ROY WOUNDED IN SHOOTING
Former NBA All-Star Brandon Roy was shot and wounded Saturday, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff ’s Lt. Joseph Gar--
rido. Two people opened fire, Garrido said, and Roy was one of four people who suffered nonlife-threatening upper body wounds. They were transported to a local hospital and released. Authorities were unsure of a motive, but a detective unit was conducting an investigation. Roy was treated in Southern California but has already returned to Washington while he recovers, according to King5 TV in Seattle. Roy, a three-time All-Star and the 2006-07 rookie of the year, had his career derailed by injuries before retiring for the second and final time in 2013. Roy is currently the head basketball coach at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle.
