NEW ON THE LIST AND IN PUBLISHING

Leaning in: Two new books that have grabbed tons of media attention land in the top 15 this week: Sheryl Sandberg ’s Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resilience, and Finding Joy at No. 2, and Caitlyn Jenner’s The Secrets of My Life at No. 15. Sandberg ’s book about overcoming grief (cowritten with Adam Grant) falls just shy of the top spot, behind John Sandford’s thriller Golden Prey. Lean In, Sandberg ’s working woman’s manifesto, was a No. 1 USA TODAY hit in 2013. The Facebook COO’s self-help book was prompted by the unexpected death in 2015 of her husband, Dave Goldberg. Jenner, meanwhile, kicked off promotions for her memoir with a People magazine excerpt and an interview with ABC’s Diane Sawyer about her transgender journey.

‘Y’ not ‘Yesterday’? We’re getting oh-so-close. Fans are counting down the days as Sue Grafton nears the end of the alphabet, which has cleverly provided the titles for her bestselling mystery series starring private investigator Kinsey Millhone. We’re not quite there yet, though. First there’s Y. USA TODAY has a first look at the title and the jacket of the 25th book in the series, plus an exclusive excerpt at books .usatoday.com. Y Is for Yesterday hits stores Aug. 22 from Putnam. The author returns to her usual naming convention with Y Is for Yesterday. Last time out she defied tradition with plain old X, which landed at No. 1 on USA TODAY’s list on Sept. 3, 2015. The new book involves a sexual assault in the 1970s at an elite private school.
